Klarna has joined forces with Google cloud in a new partnership which aims to reshape online shopping through hyper-personalisation and creative automation. .
The global digital bank and flexible payments provider will leverage Google cloud’s complete AI stack to boost creative velocity, personalisation and beautification, and security, ultimately driving growth and loyalty.
The collaboration includes new digital “lookbooks,” integrating an extensive library of more than 200 million AI model images to create dynamic, high-quality marketing campaigns, regenerated and refined to be tailored to each user.
Using Google Cloud’s AI hardware and advanced graph neural networks to analyse the relationships between users, transactions, and devices, Klarna will more accurately detect anomalies and suspicious patterns in real time.
David Sandström, Chief Marketing Officer at Klarna, said: , “By combining Google Cloud’s leading AI models with Klarna’s unique consumer insights, we can craft experiences that feel smarter and more personal. Early pilots already show the potential: AI-driven creative concepts, ... boosted time spent in our app by 15% and increased orders by 50%. For us, this is proof that when creativity meets AI, the results can transform the way people shop.“
ERIS SAYS: This looks like a fruitful use of AI, though it’s interesting that Klarna’s press release focuses on growing sales volumes rather than the more pressing use case of combating fraud – especially in the instant transaction environment. Klarna is one of the companies best placed to deliver one of the first workable anti-fraud solutions for real-time payments, arguably a stronger use case than driving higher sales volumes through a credit product.
