James has held senior positions at Omnicom Media Group, Visa International, AEGON (life insurance), AON (insurance broking), and also worked in the life sciences, seafood and government sectors.
Between 2013 and 2016, James was Managing Director and Deputy CEO of The Global Risk Institute in Financial Services, where he worked with the Canadian government and financial services sector on new strategies to manage financial and operational risk.
He founded Eris Intelligence in 2024 after seven years working as a journalist and freelance consultant to deliver outstanding quality communications support to clients using a flexible model that improves efficiency while reducing cost.
James holds a BA and MA from the University of Cambridge and was a Graduate Scholar at Boston University, where he worked with Nobel laureate Sir Derek Walcott. He also holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, where he was awarded a full scholarship, and has written for The Times, The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, The National Post (Canada) and many other titles. He speaks English, French, German and some Czech.
